Four hours to explore alto saxophone through its infinite rich sonic possibilities : with or without the mouthpiece, multiphonics, slaps, subtones, breathing techniques, "flapping" pads and many others countless acoustic distorsions.
Beyond technical issues, the aim of this masterclass is to help the musician to explore the internal content of every sound material, be more sensitive to sound vibrations, improve your body awareness and finally stimulate your creativity.
Through a non-idiomatic approach, we will also talk about musical intelligence : listening, strategies, gestures, important parameters in free improvisation music and its relationship to composition.

"I had four Masterclasses with Christine Abdelnour and I’m very glad I did so. She is a great teacher, you can implement the different techniques quite quickly with her guidance. The sounds leave a lot of freedom to create your own ones out of them and are very inspiring. I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in finding a new approach to the saxophone and to sound design"
Christine's masterclass sessions have helped me to develop a completely new approach to saxophone playing. My playing has been stretched as I've been encouraged to explore new extended techniques, many of which I didn't even know existed! Christine did an excellent job of explaining the physical requirements for each technique, but also provided a helpful framework for listening and connecting meaningfully with the sounds produced. The four sessions have given me enough material to spend hours practicing and refining. I'm looking forward to cultivating my own sound palette and deepening my relationship with the instrument."
